I've Been Keeping a Secret...
You all know me as your friendly neighborhood editor who shares thoughts on writing and publishing, cheeky Notes to make you smile, or photos of my horse.
But there’s something I haven’t told you…
I’m usually not a big fan of surprises, and I can’t keep a secret to save my life, but I somehow managed to not spill the beans until the timing was right.
Drumroll please….
I wrote a book!
Harvested: Fall of Nature is the first book in a science fiction series, imagined by my insanely talented co-author, Michael Lee Anderson. Mike approached me with the first draft, and we quickly realized we vibed in a unique way. When he offered to bring me onboard as a co-author, I knew this was the beginning of something truly incredible.
Harvested blends ethics, genetic engineering, and societal manipulation and control with the high-stakes energy of science fiction.
Set in a future where children can be designed and traits can be selected, beauty, strength, and perfection come at a steep price.
What happens when we become so obsessed with improving and optimizing everything that we lose sight of what makes us human?
Through the eyes of three characters fighting to reclaim what was taken from them, Harvested explores themes of consent, parenthood, grief, identity, and the dangerous idea that a person’s value can be measured by how flawless or useful they are.
I have a master’s degree in Ethics, and writing a book that focuses on themes of personhood, bodily rights, and the role of science in human evolution felt like the right journey at the right time.
Rights and autonomy are being stripped away on a global scale, but each global event affects individuals—real people with real lives. Harvested challenges readers to consider the long-term effects of these decisions.
As the saying goes: “Just because we can doesn’t mean we should.”

Gripping… What a great read! Hard to put this book down. The authors are very good story tellers and they did their homework on the technology! … I was so invested in the characters and their journeys. Eagerly awaiting the next book in the series!
This was a page-turner! I didn't expect to be sucked into this world. The blend of science, ethics, and action is really nicely done. You'll be thinking about this one long after you finish it!!
This was an unexpected blend of sci-fi and thriller. With all these scientists disappearing lately, this book is timely and really makes you think.
Happy reading!
In ink,
Allison

How very exciting! Congratulations. Love, Virg
Ooo, I love good sci-fi, and it sounds like your premise is plausible, which is critical.
